# Understanding watch history in contacts

**Watch history** keeps a detailed log of all video viewing activities of a particular contact. Each time a contact watches a video, a record is created with the following information:

**Time: -** timestamp when the viewer began watching the video.

**Timeline: -** shows which part of the video the viewer watched and how many times each segment was watched. This metric is a key to understanding your video engagement.

Timeline is color-coded. Darker colors indicate sections with high engagement, gray areas indicate sections the viewer did not watch (skipped).

**Location: -** is the physical location from where the video was watched.

**Source: -** is the website where the video was watched on. If the video was embedded in your site for example, the source would be your website's url.

**Device**: - shows the device type and browser used to watch the video
